Never throw up on an editor.

It's none of their business that you have to learn to write. Let them think you were born that way.

                ~ Ernest Hemingway

We are a species that needs and wants to understand who we are. Sheep lice do not seem to share this longing, which is one reason why they write so little.

A synonym is a word you use when you can't spell the other one.

Nothing, not love, not greed, not passion or hatred, is stronger than a writer's need to change another writer's copy.

Tristi Pinkston's "Secret Sisters Mysteries" Finds a Home with Valor Publishing Group

as of May 14, 2009

14 August 2009 – LDS author Tristi Pinkston announces the pending publication of her new series, “The Secret Sisters Mysteries,” with Valor Publishing Group, LLC.

Ida Mae Babbitt, president of the Omni 2nd ward Relief Society, didn't mean to become a spy. But when visiting teaching stats are low and she learns that one family under her care is in financial trouble, she'll do whatever it takes to make sure they have what they need. If that includes planting surveillance cameras in their home and watching them from a parked car in the woods, well, isn't that what any caring Relief Society president would do? With the help of her counselors Arlette and Tansy, Ida Mae soon learns that there's more to the situation than meets the eye and they end up bringing down an entire drug ring. It's all in a day's work for the Relief Society.

The first book in the series, appropriately titled “Secret Sisters,” is set for a March 2010 release.

“I’m excited to be a Valor author,” Pinkston says. “I have worked for the company since May of this year and have seen the potential it has to propel an author to new heights of success. The marketing plan is superb and is more in touch with today’s buyers and their shopping habits. I know I’ll be in good hands with Valor.”

“The Secret Sisters Mysteries” series is currently projected to contain five volumes, but it could go on indefinitely, depending on demand. Pinkston says her characters are timeless and could be placed in any number of situations to create an on-going series. “Of course, if sales start to lapse, I’ll move on to something else,” Pinkston says. “I have a lot of ideas for future projects, both humor, like this series, and more historical fiction, like I’ve done in the past.”

Pinkston’s most recent release, “Agent in Old Lace,” is currently a bestseller on the Deseret Book list. “I’m so pleased with the success I’ve had with ‘Agent in Old Lace,’” Pinkston says. “It’s been fun to see it climb the sales charts.” Fans who have enjoyed “Agent in Old Lace” will definitely appreciate Pinkston’s new series. “I take comedy and bump it up a notch with my new books,” she says. “I call the series, ‘chick lit for the elderly.’”
